The increase of the minimum wage

The minimum monthly wage will increase from 320 to 360 euro.

Restrictions on social benefits are cancelled

All restrictions imposed are cancelled in 2009 for unemployment benefits, sick benefits, maternity benefits, paternity benefits and parental benefits.

Reduced tax rate on wages

The rate of personal income tax is reduced from 24% to 23%.

Tax benefits for children who work during the summer holidays

Benefits from income tax for individuals who are in dependence on will also apply to children under 19 years, who are trained during the summer holidays and receive taxable income.

State family allowance depending on the number of children

State family allowance for the first child will be 11.38 euro, for the second one - 22.76 euro and for the third and each subsequent child - 34.14 euro.

Income tax on micro-enterprises is 11 percent

Tax rate of micro-enterprises in 2015 is set at 11% instead of the previous 9%.

Officials are required to submit detailed information about their income and property

In the declaration of the officials, the public person must indicate official information on their income, as well as provide information about the objects, capital shares and the shares that belong to others, but make a profit to those officials.

You do not have to pay land tax in the case of compulsory lease

The property owners, whose house is located on land owned by another person, do not have to compensate for the land tax.

Changes in the Labour Law

New duties, rights and responsibilities of both employees and employers are set starting from 2015. The changes relate to information in employment contracts and job adverts, vacation days for blood donors, payment of holiday money, regulation of work and leisure time, as well as protection of female breastfeeding employees.

Residents can choose their electricity supplier

Residents can buy electricity on the open market starting from 2015, choosing the favorite supplier. In its turn, the prices of electricity will be kept at the level of start tariff for large families and lower-income persons.

Building control

Supervision of the operation of public buildings starting from the New Year will be provided by the State Construction Control Office.

Changes for fishermen

It will be prohibited to fish with nets in public waters for his own use.

Credit Information Bureau

On January 1, the debt size of the population will reflect the Credit Information Bureau. Participation of enterprises in it and providing information will be voluntary. At the same time, every citizen will be able to check the correctness of his data, and if necessary, update its. Data on obligations of specific individuals will be given only with the consent of this person.

The procedure for submission of a new law

Signatures of the one tenth of the electorate, which are necessary for the initiation of any law, will be in future collected by the initiative group created for this purpose. Signatures can be confirmed not only by sworn notaries, but also in the local government, in orphaned court or at a chief of the department of the region, parish, city. Fee for confirmation of the signature cannot exceed half of the amount that is determined by law to confirm the authenticity of the signature in orphaned court.

New regulation for the arbitration courts

New legal regulation of work and the establishment of the arbitral court will come into force on January 1. A permanent court could create a company registered in the Register of Enterprises, but it must have at least 10 judges. The court should have its premises, office work and staff for the reception of visitors, as well as contain the homepage. In addition, the law also provides the creation of ad hoc arbitral court for any particular civil dispute.

The Chamber of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court will cease to exist

The transition to the so-called system of “pure courts” is going on in Latvia. The Supreme Court (SC) will consider criminal cases only on cassation starting from 2015.

This new system provides that all cases of the first instance will be considered by a district (city) court, of the appeal one – by the District Court and of the cassation – by the Supreme Court.

The procedure for the management of public enterprises

A new regulation enters into force, determining the principle, activity, liquidation and the procedure of management of shares of the capital of state and municipal enterprises.
