“DNB banka” Allocated the Loan in the Amount of 17.5 Million Euro to Latvijas Dzelzceļš

DNB banka allocated the loan in the amount of 17.5 million euro to the Latvian railway company Latvijas Dzelzceļš (LDz), informed BNS the head of public relations department of the bank Teika Lapsa.

LDz plans to invest the funds in improving the railway infrastructure, increasing the efficiency of freight traffic and quality of services provided.

Though, the overall decline in demand for coal, oil and oil products in the EU affects the traffic in Latvia, despite the risks, which may create the current geopolitical situation in the short-term perspective, the long-term investment in the development of LDz is very important. Besides LDz is one of the most recognizable and significant Latvian companies, it should be certainly noted its significant contribution to employment in Latvia", said a Vice President of DNB banka Lauris Matsievskis.

In his turn, a Vice President of LDz Aivar Strakshas had specified that taking into account the geopolitical instability in the world, it is important to complete the initiated investment projects to preserve the competitiveness of Latvia in the international transit business. We are working that the projects implemented by us would enable us not only to maintain good cooperation with customers, but also attract new customers and goods, he said.
